Trust

Psalm 25:1-5

In you, Lord my God,
    I put my trust.
I trust in you;
do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
    who are treacherous without cause
 Show me your ways, Lord,
    teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.

I had a problem.

I couldn’t log into one of the programs I used to engage with my readers. No matter what I tried, nothing allowed me to open the software. There are two things that set my teeth on edge without fail: when something is wrong with my Jeep and when my computer isn’t doing its job. I tried to tuck the problem away, since I had discovered the issue on Friday evening, aka—the weekend. I sent a few emails to possible help sources and attempted to let the issue go.

After church and breakfast on Sunday, the issue tapped me on the shoulder again. I wasted two hours in the afternoon trying to find a solution. Then I heard Him in my head. God whispered the word trust to me. Simply trust, no other words, no audible voice, just the word trust. At that moment, I prayed for God to forgive my impatience and fill me with trust. I tucked the laptop away for the rest of the day. Although I was tempted to open it and search for solutions more than once, I left it alone.

Monday morning, I received an email from customer service and within minutes my problem was solved. Perhaps I would have received the email regardless, but God used the time to remind me of a valuable lesson. Trust Him with everything.

You see, in the midst of my tiny dilemma, I had learned of dear friends with much more important life challenges. My issue was small, but my God is big. He’s in the mix regardless of the size of my quandaries.

I love that David, in Psalm 25, reminded me of the hope I have in the God whom I trust.

Trust God in all things.
