The Very Best, Most Wonderful News

Psalm 37:1-4

Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;
for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.

Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

They lived in a perfect world, created by a loving Father. A lush garden filled with beautiful animals, soaring birds, diving fish, and blooming trees. The two strolled through the greenery and the flowers. They watched the butterflies and the bees and shared the joy of their lush surroundings. Until the day they defied God. They disobeyed. Then everything changed.

Living in the world takes perseverance and lots of prayer and faith. Ever since Adam and Eve's choice to eat the fruit from the tree of life, sin has flooded the world.

If I open my phone, turn on the news, or overhear conversations, I’m bound to hear something upsetting or frustrating. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be aware of what’s going on around us, but I am saying the sin I witness in this world invites discouragement, fear, frustration, hurt, and misunderstanding.

But the good news, yes, the very best, most wonderful news, is—I can totally, without a doubt, trust the Lord to bring goodness into my life.

Whether I’m fretting over the state of the world or concerned about something more personal, God offers hope through Jesus and His grace. My God wants what's best for me. As I delight in Him, He gives me the delights of my heart. The joy, peace, and love that only He can give allows me to hope when days feel hopeless.

Praise God that the evil will some day pass away and the love of the Father remain.
