Maintain Integrity
Job 2:3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”
Integrity—the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles
My daughter, Sara, who teaches first grade, has been teaching her class about integrity. That may sound early to be teaching such a concept, but I don’t think so. She presents integrity as what a person might do when no one else is watching. In other words, when no one sees me, will I make the best choice? I’m hoping this sticks with those kiddos throughout their lives. She’s trying to help them understand how their behavior affects other people and themselves, even when no one sees.
Integrity is something that makes a huge difference in life. Even when no one else is aware of my choices, God is. God knows all. He sees me, he knows me, and he cares about me. He wants me to make good choices and to be honest. God doesn’t watch me in a creepy sense, but He is aware of my life and how I live it.
Job was a man of integrity. Even as Satan tempted him, he continued to believe in God and hold fast to his faith. He suffered with terrible pain, his friends taunted him, and his own wife told him to turn away from God. How sad, but Job’s integrity strengthened his faith.
I’m thankful Sara is teaching her students to be honest and to make good choices. I pray the lesson sticks with them.
I pray God will help us all to live with integrity.
