Lean on Him

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
     and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
     and he will make your paths straight.

Thank you to everyone who shared a verse with me for my birthday. Many of you shared Proverbs 3:5-6, one of my favorites.

This has been a year where I’ve been reminded to trust in God with every part of my being.

Trusting requires submitting to God in everything.

Last week, I received a video call from my granddaughter, Ella Cate. She had attended a week at our local Christian camp, and she had news for me. Throughout the week she enjoyed swimming, kayaking, learning memory verses, singing praises and more. Her last day of camp she chose to take a class on baptism. When she called me, she shared the news that she had chosen to submit to God and commit to being a daughter of the King.

On Sunday, we witnessed this precious young lady being immersed in baptism. What hit me the most was the joy overflowing from my sweet granddaughter. Her smile spread from ear to ear, and her bubbling joy filled my heart with hope.

She had committed to trust in God with all her heart. I’m excited to see where God’s path takes her.

She reminded me of myself when I was fourteen years old, and I committed to follow Jesus. Since then, I’ve found joy in the journey, discovered purpose, and learned to love like Jesus. I’ve also made mistakes and struggled, but because my faith is in Jesus, who died for my sins and conquered death, I know I’m forgiven and continue to live a life trusting God.

As a believer I lean into God and his wisdom.

Trust in the Lord and follow him.
