Lay it Down
Psalm 68:19
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens.
Galatians 6:2
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of
Christ.
Lay it down.
The weight,
the worry, the what-ifs.
God’s hands
hold what your heart can’t carry. -Coffee With My Father
I came across
this quote on Pinterest this week, and it seemed a good time to share.
Have you ever
played the What-If Game? As a writer who pens fiction, I use that technique to
put my characters in precarious situations. It’s a great tool for writing
fiction, but in real life the What-If Game overwhelms. It brings on anxiety
about circumstances that may never happen.
Then there is
worry. Jesus said, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to
your life?” The answer is no. Worry doesn’t help anything. I wish I could say I’ve
never worried, but that would be a lie. It’s been a lifelong learning
experience to place my concerns in God’s hands instead of wringing mine.
In Galatians,
Paul reminds me to help carry my friends’ burdens. Even as I’m called to help
others, I’m also called to offer those burdens, along with my own, to the Lord,
and He will bear them for me and my friends. I’m so thankful to God for His
ongoing love and care, knowing I can take anything to Him.
Life has been emotionally,
mentally, and spiritually difficult the last few weeks. I could fret and worry,
spin my wheels, and not accomplish anything, or I could go to the Father who listens
to my worries, my sorrows, and my what-ifs. He holds me in his hands and
carries me and my burdens.
Pray in Jesus' name and trust our Lord to carry your hurt, anger, and fear.
