Learning Never Ends
Proverbs 2:9-11
Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.
School’s out for the summer!
This week ends the 2025-26 school year in several of the surrounding school districts. I’ve enjoyed volunteering in the class my daughter, Sara, teaches. Watching the first graders grow in wisdom and knowledge is pure joy. When the littles come into her class from kindergarten, they have some language skills. They’ve learned sight words or as the teachers call them—heart words, sounds of the alphabet, and much more. Sara takes them from their early abilities to the next level.
I love reading time in her class. Seeing and hearing the children grow in reading and understanding does my heart good. By the end of the year, every child is excited about reading.
I’ve been a reading advocate my whole life. I’ve loved reading and learning for as long as I can remember. When I worked as a children’s librarian, I encouraged reading and shared my love of books with the kiddos. I’m a lifelong learner and love discovering insight, especially about the Bible.
Proverbs tells me wisdom, knowledge, discretion, and understanding affect my life in positive ways. I seek wisdom from God every day. His wisdom enters my heart and directs my life. Knowledge, learning, and facts help me understand the world and keep me grounded in God’s word. Through all of this, God lends understanding that will guard my heart.
School may be out, but learning never ends. Dig into God’s word, ask God for wisdom, have discretion, and allow understanding to guard your heart.
Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
