He Owns the Cattle
Psalm 50: 9-11
“I [God] have no need of a bull from your stall
or of goats from your pens,
for every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.
I know every bird in the mountains,
and the insects in the fields are mine.”
I grew up in the country and love returning to my roots.
Last week, Dilly and I joined Sara and the first graders on their field trip. God blessed us with a gorgeous day. The bus took the children to Bezold’s farm, in the hills of southwest Ohio. When we arrived, the sweetest people greeted us. They were farmers who worked hard to grow vegetables and meat for our dinner tables. What a great way for children to learn where food comes from and meet the folks who grew it.
They led us on a nature walk. We learned how they raised chickens for meat. We met a beautiful horse and some sweet goats and were introduced to gardening. So many of the children had no idea where their food came from, other than the grocery store. The day proved to be a great experience.
The whole time we visited, I kept thinking about how God had created all the animals, vegetation, trees, and flowers we saw.
When I ponder what God has written in Psalm 50, I realize God doesn’t need me. He has everything. Yet He wants me as part of His family. a daughter of the King. He hopes to have a relationship with every human. He loves every person even though we mess up and fail to appreciate the gifts He’s given us. I'm thankful He’s given us a way to be part of his family through Jesus.
Take the time to thank God for His provisions and for His love.
