He Is Bigger
Psalm 77:13-15
Your ways, God, are holy.
What god is as great as our God?
You are the God who performs miracles;
you display your power among the peoples.
With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
I stood on the shore and watched fifteen-to-twenty-foot
waves roll across the sand.
The power of the water mesmerized me. The rhythmic rise and fall of the saltwater carried in grains of sand pulverized by the power of the waves. There, lying on the beach, calm as could be, was a beautiful sea turtle, warming itself in the sun before it crawled back into the churning water.
My daughter, Hannah, took my granddaughter, Dylan, and me on
a trip to Maui, Hawaii. I never dreamed I’d visit the islands in the middle of
the Pacific Ocean, yet there I was. As I watched the waves, I was overwhelmed
with the reminder of the incredible power of God. He created every grain of
sand, every drop of water, and every creature.
To see the colorful flora, hibiscus flowers everywhere,
plumeria trees with bright white flowers, the bird of paradise flower, and the
vast array of palm trees filled me with awe. The ocean took my breath away and
knocked me flat on my bottom. Much like God, whom I worship and adore, but who
also reminds me to humble myself.
In our forays to the beaches to see the sea turtles, we came
across an outdoor church service. We stood nearby, and I sang along with them
as I watched the water. Chills ran along my arms as I raised my hand and worshipped
the one who created our incredible earth.
I write all of this as a reminder of the power of God. He is
bigger than our problems, and He is in control. I trust His wisdom.
If the one who created the universe sees and loves me in the
vastness—how can I not
bow before Him and worship and trust in Him?
